Art & Design

Art and design is a valuable form of expression and communication for all our pupils. Through the art curriculum children are encouraged to see and experiment with a wide range of materials, equipment and techniques. Children learn about different kinds of art from various artists, cultures and traditions with a view to appreciating it and trying out the techniques used in their work.

School Aims

Our children will:

• produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
• become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
• evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
• know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.

Children's art work is always on display in all areas of the school. This serves to develop children's self-esteem and encourage them in their work. The art work provides a bright stimulating environment throughout the school.
